Ask Bob is a travel companion that gives you trustworthy local picks and downloadable city guides. This policy explains exactly what data the app — and this website — handles, why, and who processes it. We keep it short because Ask Bob collects little: no ads, no tracking, no profiling, and no selling of your data — ever.

What we collect and why

Approximate/precise location	To find great places near you ("5 km around me")	Only when you use a location feature. Sent to our backend to build your answer, and saved on the guides you generate so they stay accurate. Never used to track you across apps.
An anonymous account ID	To remember the guides you own and your entitlements	Created automatically — no email or name required. Optionally, you can upgrade to Sign in with Apple.
Your email address	Only if you choose Sign in with Apple	We ask Apple for your email and nothing else — not your name. Apple's Hide My Email works fine, and we never see your real address if you use it. It's shown in Settings so you can see which Apple ID your Premium is tied to. We never send you marketing.
Purchase history	To unlock guides and Premium features you've bought	Handled through Apple and RevenueCat; we keep a ledger of your credits and guides against your account ID. We never see your card details.
A photo you choose to identify	To answer a single "what is this?" request	The image is sent to our backend and on to Claude to generate that one answer, then discarded — we don't keep it and we don't build a profile from it.
A daily count of your requests	To run your plan's allowances and stop abuse	We record that a request happened and when — never what you typed. Without this we can't keep the service honest for everyone.

We do not collect your health, financial or contact details beyond the email above. We don't store the text of what you ask or search for. Places you save stay on your device — they're never uploaded to us. There is no advertising identifier and no App Tracking Transparency prompt, because we don't track you.

Who processes your data

We use a small number of trusted providers strictly to run the app:

• Supabase — secure cloud backend and storage for your account, guides and entitlements.
• Anthropic (Claude) — generates Bob's written recommendations and narration, and answers photo-identify requests. Inputs are processed to produce your result, not to train on your personal data.
• Google Places — the source of place information Bob draws on. (Your downloadable PDF guides contain place names and map links only — not third-party photos or ratings.)
• Apple & RevenueCat — process purchases and subscriptions.

Keeping your guides across devices

Guides you own are stored on our server tied to your account so they survive reinstalling the app. If you're a guest, upgrading to Sign in with Apple is what guarantees they follow you to a new device.

Your choices & deleting your data

• You can revoke location access any time in your device Settings.
• Deleting your account from within the app wipes your server-side data and your locally stored guides.
• To request access to or deletion of your data, email info@askbob.guide.

Children

Ask Bob is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If this policy changes we'll update the date above and, for material changes, note it in the app.
